Bar à Vin - Now Open at Coco Hotel - Copenhagen
In French-inspired surroundings at Vesterbrogade 41, Coco Hotel is now expanding with a wine bar. Simply called Bar à Vin, and with a wine list that counts more than 150 different wines as well as a glass list of around 30 exciting wines, there is plenty of opportunity to explore. Either under the open sky in Coco's green oasis of a courtyard, or - if the weather doesn't behave - inside the big, beautiful bar built by Copenhagen Cabinetmakers. This is a perfect addition to the award winning property which was honored to have been named Travel + Leisure 2022 World’s Best Hotel in Copenhagen.
The wine selection is wide and ambitious, and while the focus is on France, there's also been room for Italy, Georgia, Australia, Austria, Germany and more. There are fun, rare and deeply serious wines on the menu, and the color palette has many shades; white, red, orange, pink, violet, corn yellow and more. The common thread is craftsmanship, passion and taste.
Behind the wine bar are Sigurd Kjeldgaard (JAH Izakaya) and Riccardo Meconi, former sommelier at Iluka and Bæst and new sommelier at Coco Hotel. Riccardo has worked with wine in both Milan and Rome, and welcomes Bar à Vins guests with expert guidance and recommendations.
"Creating the wine list has been super fun. Riccardo and I have chosen a lot of wines that we really like and are looking forward to sharing with others! For several years, I've set aside wine for a project like this. So there will also be the opportunity to find some bottles you don't see every day, from regions like Jura and Burgundy. Examples include Ganevat, Bornard, Cossard and Georges Comte", says Sigurd.
To keep fingers busy, an appetising menu has been created, with small dishes that are great to drink wine with: huge French cheeses, French and Italian charcuterie, cold and hot seasonal greens, oysters, Tarte au Comté and tatar. In short, a map that calls for wine.
